Electric Scooter Demo and Education

Picture
During October’s Engineers Day at the Tickle College of Engineering at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, LEVER researcher and PhD student Yi Wen, demonstrated the characteristics of an electric scooter and the right (safe) way to ride it to an internal group of graduate students majoring in transportation engineering at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. For most participants, it is their first time riding the electric scooter. After test riding the electric scooter, most participants were satisfied with the riding experience and showed interest to ride it again. “I want to buy my own one, how much does it cost?” One student stayed and asked the question after the event.

We want to thank Lime for the courtesy of providing the electric scooter for this demonstration and education opportunity.

In 2015 summer, LEVER supported PhD. student Ziwen Ling studying how users consumer, use e-bikes and e-bike ownership's influence on household car ownership in China. E-bikes are popular in China. There are more than 150 million e-bikes sold in China in recent ten years.

Dr. Cherry, LEVER director has support students studying e-bike related research for several years. Research topics have a wide coverage including e-bike use, safety, environment influence etc.
